The ALTimate Tour Review
The ALTimate Tour Takes Tampa By Storm
MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre Tampa Aug. 16th, 2019
Bush, Live and Our Lady Peace took the stage Friday night at the Mid Florida Credit Union in Tampa as part of their “ALTimate Tour”. Rain could not keep fans away as they braved nasty weather to get their rock n’ roll fix. Canadian band Our Lady Peace opened the night with their six song set. The band opened with “Drop Me In The Water” from their 2018 album “Somethingness.” Fan favorite “ Somewhere Out There” had the crowd on their feet and singing.
Live was up next as they celebrated the 25th anniversary of their award winning album “Throwing Copper” which has sold more than 8 million copies. All of the band’s original members took the stage and laid out an impressive twelve-song set. Lead singer Ed Kowalcyk definitely knows how to control a crowd and was very interactive. In addition to the their own hits such as “I Alone” and “All Over You”, the band performed covers of “Paint It Black” by The Rolling Stones and “Losing My Religion” by REM. The Mega Hit “Lightening Crashes” completed the encore.
As the time for the main event arrived, the crowd had grown immensely. As the lights went out, the drummer appeared, silhouetted against a bright display screen. A slow, loud rhythmic beat began, similar to a warrior banging a war drum. As “Bush” flashed across the screen in neon letters, the band took the stage led by frontman Gavin Rossdale. From the first note, Bush made it clear that they were here to rock. They wasted no time as they opened up with their hit “Machinehead”. Rossdale’s stage presence is undeniable and his energy was contagious. The crowd enjoyed all of the band’s hits and got to hear “Bullet Holes” which was released this year for the movie “John Wick Chapter 3”. The ALTimate Tour proved without a doubt that great music and great bands are timeless.
